In September of last year, Tesla unveiled the revised Model 3, omitting the much-anticipated Performance model. However, given that early information was concealed in the UK configurator’s source code, it must be approaching soon. The details were there, waiting to be discovered by a reader of our sister site Inside EVs. We have verified that everything is there in the source code.
“All-new, high-performance drive units” will be added to the revised Model 3 Performance, providing a combined output of over 500 horsepower. Although the precise amount generated by the two motors is not stated, Tesla calls it “the most powerful Model 3 ever.” Just to review, the previous one had a rating of 505 horsepower.
Additionally, according to Tesla, the chassis and suspension have been adjusted for “intuitive, razor-sharp response to driver inputs.” In other areas, heat management and pedal feel have both been enhanced for more reliable braking regardless of speed. In addition, the lightweight, staggered wheels and unnamed tires on the new Model 3 Performance are designed to provide “increased traction out of corners.”
The same source code refers to “redesigned front and rear fascias, rear diffuser, and carbon fiber spoiler” as aesthetic modifications. “All-new seat design with enhanced side and cushion bolsters” and ventilation are coming to the interior. Tesla is giving the Performance a “lightweight carbon fiber décor and refined weave pattern” to distinguish it from the less expensive Model 3 models.
Additionally, there are numerous photos on the website that we were unable to scrape. Furthermore, since the source code merely states “ACCELERATION},” the 0 to 60 mph time is merely placeholder data. It took 3.1 seconds for the previous Model 3 Performance. Although it doesn’t appear to be stated, we should remind you that the EPA gave the outgoing model a 315-mile range rating.
Although a prior leak said the weight will stay at 4,089 pounds, it is not stated. The 82.0 kWh battery capacity is also anticipated to be the same, however this is not confirmed yet.
Regarding the name, it seems to have persisted. It appears that Performance is staying, despite reports that it would be renamed as a Model 3 Ludicrous.
In the upcoming days or weeks, an official unveiling of the new Model 3 Performance is anticipated, as Tesla is currently upgrading its regional websites with the new model.
